Nomination documents are available for public inspection at the Village Office during regular office hours, from the time of delivery to the Chief Election Officer until 30 days after the declaration of official election results.
A person who inspects or otherwise accesses nomination documents must not use the information except for purposes of the Local Government Act.

 2011 General Election Calendar (Detailed)

 

August 8 Last Day to adopt any bylaws or bylaw amendments to apply to general local election.
  14 Last Day for establishment of elector organization that intends to endorse candidate on the ballot on Oct. 14th.
  26 Nomination Packages ready for distribution.
  28 Village will post a notice that residents need to register (with Elections BC) before September 27, 2011 to ensure that they are on the Provincial Voters' List.
September 4 First Day for giving notice of:
    Nomination Period.
    Availability of list of electors and request to omit or obscure personal information on the list and period for objections to elector registrations.
  20 Village will post a second notice that residents need to register (with Elections BC) before September 27, 2011 to ensure that they are on the Provincial Voters' List.
  27 Last Day to withdraw consent for non-resident property elector in order to be effective for the 2011 election.
    Last Day for giving second notice of nomination period,
    Last Day of availability of list of electors, requests to omit or obscure personal information on the list and period for objections to elector registrations.
     Advance elector registration closes; you will only be able to register on General Voting Day (November 19)
  28 Provincial list of voters becomes Village of Lions Bay list of electors.
 October 4            9:00 AM Nomination Period Begins
   4 List of electors available for public inspection and period for objections to elector registration begins.
    CEO may commence any challenge of nominations as nomination documents received.
    Nomination papers available for public inspection from time of delivery.
   11 First Day to give notice of the required advance voting opportunity, which will be on November 9th, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
  14            4:00 PM Objections to elector registrations must be received before 4:00 PM.
  14 Nomination period ends.
    Declaration of Candidates.
    If insufficient candidates, start receiving additional nominations immediately.
    Give notice for extension of nominations, if necessary.
  17       4:00 PM Deadline for nominations if extension due to insufficient candidates.
  18       4:00 PM Deadline for challenge of nominations (court must hear and determine challenges within 72 hours).
  19 Last Day to meet 30-day jurisdiction residency/property ownership requirement for registering on general voting day (November 19).
  20 First Day to Publish Notice of Election
  21         4:00 PM Deadline for withdrawal of candidates.
  21 Deadline for receiving originals of faxed nomination documents (at close of Office Hours).
