EOC Acquires Digital Projector through the Support of Joint Emergency Preparedness (JEPP)
Funding support from the Joint Emergency Preparedness Program (JEPP) has enabled the Village to purchase a projector and portable screen for its Emergency Operations Centre. The projector will be used to support emergency training for Village staff and volunteers, and will be used in education and awareness exercises such as the annual Safety Event. In an emergency, the projector will be used by members of the Emergency Management Team to assist them in accessing and conveying information to team members and the public. The equipment is light and portable, and can be linked up to the latest digital technology such as IPads and phones.
The Joint Emergency Preparedness Program (JEPP) was established in October 1980 to enhance the national capacity to respond to all types of emergencies and to enhance the resiliency of critical infrastructure. JEPP is administered by Public Safety Canada (PS).
The Government of Canada, in consultation and co-operation with provincial and territorial governments, contributes to emergency preparedness and critical infrastructure protection projects and initiatives. Whether it is through training, the purchase of emergency response equipment or for emergency planning and exercises, the JEPP investment is a pro-active method aimed to reduce the loss of human life, injuries, as well as property damage costs associated with an emergency.
Over the past few years, the Village has benefited from a number of JEPP funding awards that have assisted in ensuring that the Village has the equipment needed to support its Emergency Operations Centre.
