Lions Bay Beach Park Revitalization

An advisory committee was established in 2017 to explore improvements for Lions Bay Beach park. After public consultation, including a survey with 128 households out of approx. 580 responding. The Committee prepared a Recommendations Working Paper, from which limited Phase I improvements were delivered in 2018.

Phase II improvements were put on hold to apply for an Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program grant, which was ultimately succesful in 2022. Implementation was halted after the 2022 municipal election, and the advisory committee was reinstated in early 2023 to produce a new plan that was sent to staff in early 2024 for execution. Rework to meet budget and grant conditions took the project to a mid-2025 design and construction tender and bid award, and ground was broken in Nov. 2025.

The $1.2 mil. project provides a new building with four individual washrooms, a storage room plus covered patio, replacement of all play structures, some remediation of the Lori Beck Pavilion and engineered steps and paths:

Under separate Council-approved budgets, the breakwater-jetty is being fully rebuilt and a new log boom installed, and the onsite wastewater system is being expanded to handle higher demand. Drawing on future budgets, storm drainage is being improved, certain trees have been removed on arborist advice, and the dilapidated kayak rack has been demolished.
