Important announcement regarding trail usage

December 16, 2024

Dear Residents of Lions Bay,

Important message from the Municipality regarding trail usage

Trail Closure: The Village requests that residents on Centennial Trail do not proceed north of the wooden staircase towards Brunswick and down Soundview trail (intersection with Harrison trail). Heavy equipment will be accessing the Pit area and must be avoided for resident's safety.

Please also note that the storm has caused a lot of unstable branch debris in the forest. Watch for hanging branches and uprooted trees. Please use extreme caution when going into the forest canopy. Heavy rain and wind continued to be forecasted creating continued instability within the forest canopy.

  • Be cautious around damaged or dead trees: These trees are the most likely to be dangerous.
  • Look for broken branches: In a forest, look for broken or dead branches in the canopy above you.
  • Be aware of weather conditions: High winds and snow can weaken or dislodge branches.
  • Look for signs of a compromised tree: These include peeling bark, bare branches, damaged roots, and fungus.
  • Look for light-colored wood: This is a sign that a branch has broken off the tree.

The Municipality will provide updates as more information is available on the Village News page.
