Fire Rescue Services

Lions Bay Fire Rescue (LBFR) is committed to protecting lives, property, and the environment through professional emergency response, fire prevention, public education, and community service.

LBFR operates as a composite fire department, consisting of a full-time Fire Chief, Training Officer, and approximately 20–30 Paid-On-Call (POC) firefighters. Operating from one fire station, renovated in 2025, and a dedicated training facility, the department maintains three emergency response apparatus.

Serving approximately 580 homes and 1,500 residents, LBFR provides emergency services throughout the Village of Lions Bay and along a 26-kilometre section of the Sea-to-Sky Highway. Highway-related incidents account for approximately 75% of the department’s emergency call volume.

Our emergency response services include medical first response, structural firefighting, wildland and wildland-urban interface firefighting, motor vehicle incidents, technical rescue, and public assistance. Specialized capabilities include vehicle extrication and high-angle and low-slope rope rescue.

LBFR places a strong emphasis on professional training, operational readiness, and firefighter development. Members complete NFPA 1001 Level I and II firefighter training and first responder medical training, supported by ongoing instruction in structural firefighting, vehicle extrication, wildland firefighting, technical rescue, emergency medical response, and officer development.

Through regular training, professional development, and a commitment to public safety, LBFR works to protect everyone who lives, works, and travels through our community.
