Bylaws

Bylaws are the legislation of local governments. New bylaws and bylaw amendments require three readings before being adopted by Council. Official Community Plan and Zoning bylaws and amendments usually also require a public hearing, while others may require Provincial approval. Some, such as loan authorization bylaws, require both Provincial and elector approval either by referendum, or an Alternative Approval Process.
