Freedom of Information (FOIPPA)

The Village of Lions Bay (the Village) is subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the Act), as are all local governments, and most provincial public bodies. The Act ensures that public bodies are more accountable and open to the public. This is accomplished through a balance of the public’s right to “Freedom of Information” and “Protection of Privacy”.

The purposes of this Act are to make public bodies more accountable to the public and to protect personal privacy by:

  1. Giving the public a right of access to records,
  2. Giving individuals a right of access to, and a right to request correction of, personal information about themselves,
  3. Specifying limited exceptions to the right of access.

To request information from these public bodies you must contact them directly.

How to Make an Information Request

Most records are available without a formal request for access to records. We encourage you to contact the Deputy Corporate Officer directly at dco@lionsbay.ca to determine if the information you seek is readily available. Informal requests are often faster and less expensive than a formal request.

Formal Requests

A formal request is only necessary if the records you seek are not routinely or readily available to the public. Your request must be made in writing on the appropriate form and submitted via email to the Deputy Corporate Officer at dco@lionsbay.ca. You may also drop off your request in person to the Village Office located at:
400 Centre Road, Lions Bay, BC, V0N 2E0, Phone: 604-921-9333

You may also submit a Freedom of Information Request Form
