Recyclable Solid Waste

Lions Bay collects unlimited recyclable solid waste in two programs:

  1. Curbside every Friday via a fully-paid Recycle BC program, subcontracted to the same hauler the municipality uses (currently Waste Control Services).  Clean non-attractant recycling can be placed curbside any time after 5 am independent of other collection timeslots.  Three curbside streams must be separated:
  • Hard plastic and metal packaging
  • Paper/card
  • Glass containers.

To ensure collection, please ensure only acceptable material is in the bin.  Visit RecycleBC for a list of materials. The following quick reference brochures make recycling easy to do:

2. At the Community Recycling Depot operating every Friday 6-9 am and Saturday 8-11 am at the Public Works Yard (5 Tidewater Way), the following items ARE accepted:

  • soft & crinkle plastics
  • styrofoam
  • batteries
  • lightbulbs
  • e-waste & small appliances

Since 2018, Styrofoam has been banned from Metro Vancouver landfills, and is now collected for recycling at the Depot, or free at the North Shore Recycling and Waste Centre, 30 Riverside Dr., North Vancouver. Not accepted at the Depot are recyclable household plastic & metal containers, paper/card and glass (which we are obligated to present curbside for pickup by Recycle BC). All recyclables are taken free at North Shore Recycling.
