Solid Waste

Public Works collects Lions Bay's solid waste streams using contractors, 150 tonnes of landfill waste, 240 tonnes of compostables , and 125 tonnes of recyclables annually.

Compostables and recycling is collected weekly, and landfill garbage bi-weekly.  Containers are not currently provided by the municipality and can be purchased from retailers throughout the Lower Mainland.

During times of increased wildlife activity, currently in operation year-round, the municipality imposes an area collection schedule every Friday:

  • 7:30 am - 9:00 am: central Lions Bay above the highway, Bayview Road and Place, Upper Bayview, Mountain-Timbertop-Sunset, and all streets leading off these.
  • 9:00 am - 10:00 am: Highview-Oceanview, Panorama, Kelvin Grove Way, and all streets leading off these.
  • 10:00 am - 1:00 pm: lower Kelvin Grove, Brunswick, central Lions Bay below the highway, etc., all other neighbourhoods.

Containers must be removed from the street by 8 p.m. the same day. For residents who can’t make these times, the Village provides for drop-off of wildlife attractants only, at Works Yard from 6 am - 9 a. on Friday as well as 8 am – 11:00 am on Saturday.
